Some “compostable” plastics just break down faster than regular plastic, but you’re still left with tiny particles of plastic. Most biodegradable items require more time and higher temperatures to properly break down than we have with our community compost pile.

Produce stickers. They’re small. They’re plastic. And they’re easy to miss… until they pop up in the compost you spread in your garden.

We considered it, but the thought of buying plastic buckets was not happy-making, especially since plastic is made from fossil fuels. So we polled potential participants and most said that they already had a container that they could use.

We’ve done our best to pick times and locations to be as practical as possible - but as this is a pilot we’ll be reviewing this and maybe adding more locations in future - make sure you take the survey to help shape the program!

To accept your scraps we’ll need you to complete the sign up form first - once that’s done, you’re all set and you can swing by any of our locations to drop off your scraps.
